Training Programme on Mechanical Integrity and Process Safety Management
Training Programme on Mechanical Integrity and Process Safety Management ,
Date: 6- 7Th Sep 2019
Venue- Hotel Jaypee Vasant Continental, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi (INDIA)
Course Objective-Process Safety Management (PSM) is a collection of management systems and their implementation with the purpose of controlling the risk of major accidents; PSM focuses on preventing the incidents that originate from process hazards (such as spillage / release of flammable & toxic liquid & gases etc. resulting fire/ explosion & catastrophes). Process Safety Management ( PSM) is the application of management systems and controls (programs, procedures, audits, evaluations) to a manufacturing or chemical process in a way that process hazards are identified, understood, and controlled, so that process-related injuries and incidents are prevented.
Meet Your Facilities

There are different PSM Standards/ Procedures followed:
PSM Standard issued by US OSHA (29 CFR 1910.119)
AIChE / CCPS Risk Based Process Safety (RBPS)
OISD-GDN-206 Safety Management System
Other Best Safety Management Practices
The RBPS approach recognizes that all hazards and risks in an operation or facility are not equal; consequently, apportioning resources in a manner that focuses effort on greater hazards and higher risks . Using the same high-intensity practices to manage every hazard is an inefficient use of limited resources. A risk-based approach reduces the potential for assigning an undue amount of resources to managing lower-risk activities, thereby freeing up resources for tasks that address higher-risk activities. If an organization does not directly control risk, the organization cannot directly control quality, safety, environmental impact, or production to acceptable levels. An organization must sustainably control human error to manage the risk of accidental losses that impact quality, safety, the environment, production, or assets. The human factor deficiencies included lack of control of employee fatigue, poor human-system-interface design, poor communication by radio/phone, out-of-date and inaccurate operating procedures, and poor communication between employees at shift handover.
Theme Topics of the Program:
While a comprehensive program is essential for achieving excellent results in preventing process incidents, it is only one of four essential pillars required to implement and sustain an effective PSM program. In order to sustainably control the risk of a complex process the organization must design and implement management systems to:
Understand the Risk
This involves predicting problems; which in turn includes predicting the risk of possible accident/loss scenarios, establishing the appropriate design and the right layers of protection to control risk to a tolerable level.
Control Risk Factors Day-to-Day
This involves controlling the original design by maintaining the established layers of protection and managing changes to the design using integrated management systems.
Analyze Actual Problems and Determine Weaknesses in the System
This involves identifying weaknesses in designs and management systems and weaknesses in risk assessment through root cause analysis of actual problems (losses and near-losses)
14 Elements of Process Safety Management
Process Safety Information (PSI)
Operating Procedures (OP)
Management of Change (MOC)
Process Hazards Analysis (PHA)
Safe Practices/ Work Permit (SP/ WP)
Pre-Start up Safety Review (PSSR)
Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance (MIQA)
Occupational Health (OH)
Contractor Safety Management (CSM)
Incident Investigation and Analysis (IIA)
Employee Participation (EP)
Emergency Response & Disaster Management Plan (ERDMP)
Compliance Audit (CA)
Out of above 14 elements of PSM, MIQA play the focal role in process safety management. MIQA shall ensures 360 degree integrity of equipment starts from inception of its Design , Construction, Startups, Commissioning , Operation, Turnaround till decommissioning, to prevent out of containment of hazardous liquid & gases from its pressure boundary.
Training Programme Includes
High Tea/ Coffee and Buffet Lunch
This training Program is suitable for all the personnel who are working in hazardous processing industries both in the construction stage and operating stage. This is most useful program for professional working as fire & safety , production, process , maintenance, inspection , project engineers, corrosion engineers, reliability engineers for all junior, high & mid-level senior executives in Oil & Gas both offshore & onshore , refineries & petrochemical, Power plant, Fertilizers & other chemicals processing industries including nuclear industries. This program is also very useful to PMCs, Licensors, Designers, Consultants, EPC contractors, protective Coating & Painting and wrap manufacturers , NDT agencies, inspection agencies who are supplying their products to these industries.
